Hey guys

I have 2 years NCB with a single insurer. Been driving 2 years.

I am chaning my insurer and they have asked for the proof of NCB - how do I obtain this? and I my 2 years insurance doesn't hit until the 6th of June.

My new insurance will start then but I have to post the documents to get it sorted for insuring on the 6th so i have insurance. Will my current insurer give me evidence even though I aint hit 2 years till next month.

Most insurers will ask for a copy of the renewal notice which will state how many no claims you have.

Always send these by recorded delivery as well. My friends proof got lost in the post once and it cost him a lot in cancellation fees etc!

Ah cheers got it - I didn't realised that NCB info is on the renewal form.

Thats me saving £500 on my insurance now compared to my quote from current insurer.

Every insurance company I've ever been with have done the leg work of finding out my previous NCD, I've never even had to tell them who I was insured with before.

Thought i'd bump an old thread about this.

I'm just renewing my insurance after a ridiculous renewal quote - with Direct Line I was given a "bonus" year of no claims after my 1st year with them, and when it came to renewal this year it just states that I have 3 years no claims bonus.

It clearly states when I fill out forms to put in what no claims bonus is stated on my renewal form with my current insurer, so should I stick with 3 or should I play it safe and put 2? As you might imagine it makes quite a bit of difference to my renewal!

If it says 3 on the renewal go with 3. Sometimes they get funny if your say 19 with 3 years no claims, so you'll probably have to quote over the phone and send the renewal in for evidence.

Yeah that's not going to be an issue with my age, I guess i might as well just go with it, it does literally say to use what is on your renewal notice so I would have thought it would look more unusual if i put something else down as it might look like i had a claim before then!

For future reference you can also get proof from the insurance company that actually covered you. Phone them and they are usually more than happy to quickly post out another letter stating your proof of no claims. Going back to the broker and asking for proof can usually take an age or they don't bother.
