At first i was going to make my first post a straight forward spec question,but the recent news of the Foxconn strike got me thinking.Last week,I kid you not,I was running a 2000xp processor, 512mb ram and a TWENTY gb hard drive ! A trip to the tip(dumping rumble)had me bringing away a HP computer that did sort of run for a while but kept crashing. I took it back only after pulling out its perfectly ok 250gb hard drive and 1gb of ram. Installed in my box there is a noticeable improvement.On a high I considered actually buying board/cpu.This is where overclockers forum wizzes would have come in.Yes my 2000xp cpu is running at 100% almost all the time and watching clips can be a pain.Then the news broke about the poor Foxconn workers slaving towards an early grave to provide us with tat that as i have found out will eventually be pretty much useless. What i am asking the wizzes now is to slow down the demand for that 0.5% improvement farkle. Just make do with what you have for a bit longer,surely your machines are fast enough already?- i realise my example is a bit extreme but i think you know what i mean.Not to mention the damage the demand is doing to the planets resources ! Your thoughts ? Sod it, can you please suggest a very cheap upgrade board/cpu that will take advantage of my radeon 9600 AGP card too-thanks, Ste

whats your budget?
if you get a new mboard you will most likely need new ram unless it is ddr3 240 pin

then your best of checking sites like ebay etc to get a second hand board on the cheap and second hand cpu on cheap.

Dont get me wrong I have a desktop with xp and a agp 9550 somewhere....but even with its upgrade to 2gb ram and P4 processer it struggles with things like youtube........most people here are gamers who are looking for better performance than the newest games consoles.........asking them to not strive for peak performance is like telling a scientist to only try half the possible cures for cancer and leave it at that.

lol ive got so many p4's xp200's and so knocking about my system pants compared to the things some you guys running but even mine makes me never want to ever go back toa p4 lol

With thinking as OP, you might as well shoot yourself in the head, lets face it you are only doing this world worse... Drinking precious water supplies, produce methane which is much worse than co2, consume food... ect..

I believe that we cant stop now, we have achieved so much in last 100 years, I just hope that in every industry there will be a rival so everyone will strive to achieve and be the best.. Like in old AMD vs Intel days...... Or the space-race between USSR and USA, unachievable was achieved within years just to survive... Without technological advances in Nuclear sector we would be still fighting each other like in WW1 and WW2. Now major nations are too scared to go against each-other because if they do, nothing alive will be left, so they take out on Libya,Iraq,Afghan ect.. But it still better than full blown war like ww2.

You can believe in your hippie world, where everyone loves each-other, eats grass... But I doubt we are alone in this Universe so when time comes... well we all know a little about American history and what happened to natives.

If USSR was alive and kicking today, I am pretty sure there would be already bases and nukes placed on the moon... Colonisation of Mars would be in full blown swing, star wars battleships would be no longer sci-fi or we would be playing real life Fallout 3 , Instead we got bankers trolling the world stealing so much money and resources that it would be impossible to spend it all.

decided to stick with what i've got (not a lot). that way there is no blood on my hands from buying from inhumane companies that are indifferent to its staff being driven to suicide to provide tainted goods to inconsiderate consumers.
