No display from Graphics Card

Hi all,

I've just upgraded pretty much all my PC, other than my gfx card.

I've got a Gigabyte Z87-HD3 motherboard and a 4670k CPU.

I've just whacked it all together, and there is no display from the gfx card - a HD7850. Windows recognises it but says that it's disabled due to a code 43, which I gather is a rather unhelpful code.

The card works fine in my old pc. At the moment I'm using a 5870 which I replaced because I thought it had died (apparently it hasn't) but it works fine.

So at the moment I have a 5870 that works in my new build but not the old, and a 7850 that works in the old and not the new :|

I'm considering just selling both an buying an nVidia card, but I feel there is every chance that I'm forgetting to do something.

Cheers,
Mike

Does it sit in the slot properly? When I changed my 5870 for the 770 (which are about the same size) I had trouble seating it - the back end of the card is resting on the SATA connectors. I had to bend the backplate ever so slightly to be able to fit it at all, and even then the SATA connectors are still somewhat in the way.

Could be something to do with pci gen3,try manually setting it in the BIOS to gen3 and gen2 also try with different display ports if monitor supports it,hdmi/dvi/vga ect

Tried that already.

I thought it wasn't seated properly first, but I think it is. I can't get it anymore pushed in, and all of the pins seem to be fully in anyway.

This is driving me nuts :/
