No display issue

My computer was working completely fine last night and then when I went to boot it up this morning my monitor just displayed "No connection". I have plugged my laptop into the same monitor with the same HDMI cable and it works fine, but I also tried another cable with my pc and still no connection. I have also tried removing my GPU and using the motherboards on board graphics but I had no success doing this either, the final thing I tried was resetting the BIOS to default by removing the CMOS battery. I then tried the gpu and onboard graphics again but I'm still not seeing anything displayed on my monitor. When I turn the computer on all the fans start spinning and light up and the hard drive makes the booting noise.

Can anyone think what the problem might be? Any help would be much appreciated. I built the computer about three years ago now.

What's the rest of your spec ??? does the board have a 2nd PCI slot you can put the GFX card in ?

Are you getting to see the bios screen with the onboard graphics connected and the gpu out after a CMOS reset ?

Nope, no bios screen or anything displayed at any point. I'm currently out but I'll try the second PCI slot/safe mode boot when I get back in.
Spec is:
CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K
GPU: HIS Radeon HD 7870 IceQ X Turbo X 2GB
RAM: Patriot Intel Extreme masters 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit
MOBO: Asrock Z75 Pro3 Socket 1155 VGA HDMI 7.1 ATX
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache
PSU: Corsair Builder Series CX 500W V2 '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply

try taking gpu out completely (also remove power cables), cmos reset and use the onboard gfx. wondering if PSU isn't providing enough power ?

Yeah that's what I originally tried, completely removed the gpu reset the CMOS and then tried using onboard graphics but no dice.

Hmmm, I'll give my friend a shout and see if he has a spare PSU and GPU as the only alternative to my GPU I have is the onboard graphics which I've tried already

Second PSU didn't work but when I plugged my original one back in it started working, how odd! Not sure what went wrong but it's working again no, cheers for all the suggestions guys
