I have a working GA-F2A78M-HD2 which serves me well. I have its specification via Belarc. I have been given an identical board which may have a faster cpu. I thought I would install it in the same case to run Belarc.
The fans run and the HD led cycles through things but nothing comes on the same monitor as before. The same whether using a DVI or VGA cable.

I looked at the CMS battery which was 2.7V. Have changed that but no difference. I know nothing about BIOS but none of the F9 F12 DEL keys are trapped.
The fact that it seems to be doing something suggests that it is a BIOS problem. Any suggestions?

Well I dont know because I cant start up:) Almost certainly: all my other gigabyte ones do (the one I have has Radeon and screen display is fine). I tried the VGA as I thought that wouldn't need drivers. I haven't removed the large Alpine 64 Pro Rev 2 cooling fan yet

Do you not have any cards you could use to test it?

From what I can see in the CPU support list, most of the CPUs do have integrated graphics, but Athlon models don't.

From the way Gigabyte have worded the spec, it sounds like the onboard ports don't work without an APU installed?

Your brilliant sir!. I had assumed they all the gigabyte boards had integrated graphics and didnt know which cpu I had. I inserted an Invidia GT730-2GD3 V2 card and it works. Ran Belarc and it is indeed an Athlon

3.7GHz Athlon x4 860K quad core,
256K primary memory cache,
64-bit ready
Multi-core (2 total)
Hyper-threaded (4 total)

On my original board Belarc says
3.8GHz A4-7300 with Radeon HD graphics
96 Kb primary memory cache
64-bit ready
Hyper-threaded (2 total)

and on the family one it reports 3.10 gigahertz AMD A8-7600 Radeon R7, 10 Compute Cores 4C+6G
256 kilobyte primary memory cache
4 megabyte secondary memory cache
64-bit ready
Multi-core (2 total)
Hyper-threaded (4 total)

Can I ask some subsidiaries!
1 I just inserted the nvidia card. Am I supposed to install drivers?
2 I know they are all elderly but what is the pecking order of my boards?
3 Which port do I use: the motherboard ones or the ones on the nvidia card

If you're going to carry on using it, I guess so?

If this is just a test system, then you can safely use the basic Microsoft driver.

I'm not sure. I don't know much about AMD parts from this generation.

This might help:

From what I can gather, the Athlon X4 has no graphics and your board doesn't either, so you would have no choice except to use the GT 730.
