No display

Hello
I built a pc today. Everything connected properly but when I start the pc there is no display. The fans are spinning, leds are on. But there is no sign of life on my mouse or keyboard. I reseated the ram and tried one stick at a tkme, no difference.
I am using the on board HDMI to connect.

Asus b150m pro gaming
Intel g4520 skylake
8gb hyperx ram

I tried using a gpu but still no display.

Are you using the hard drive from a previous build or a fresh install of Windows ?

The previous hard drive is looking for the old motherboard, hence it powers up but hangs before the boot stage.

You will heed to do a fresh install with the new motherboard

So if I connect an empty ssd it should work?

It will post into BIOS, but you will need to install Windows on it to boot up properly.

Okay I will try that .
I was installing custom heatsink and realised one or two pins max are bent. Could this cause this?

Bent pins could definately be the issue.

I tried using an empty ssd and that didn't work so i guess it's pins

Okay I'm really confused now.
I had another 1151 motherboard laying around. No bent pins or anything . I put the g4520 inside it and same result. No display. Why is this happening? This is a skylake CPU right so there shouldn't be any compatibility issues.

Okay nevermind. I had a retard moment. I forgot to put the ram in...
All works fine.
I am not comfortable with bending the pins back so I am just going to send it back.
