no drive found, then loads windows

After a PSU failure I got the new one back from Corsair today, fitted it all up & turned on the PC & I get the bios message - searching for hard drives - please wait, after about 6 minutes it says no drives found & then loads windows

Any ideas whats wrong ? restarting the PC still does the 6 minute search for drives, everything must be properly connected or it wouldn't load windows.

Apart from that everything runs as it should - I think

Perhaps the power failure damaged the windows installation ?

My bios/boot up screen says 'no hard drives found', but loads Windows a couple of seconds after that message.

Have you tried a new installation, or a repair installation of Windows ?

I fixed it, in my eagerness to get it going a DVD drive was not connected to the power & this apparently was what it was searching for even though it was not a primary drive
