Hello everyone,

I am having trouble getting graphics to work on my computer. My MB doesn't have integrated graphics, so I have to use a graphics card. However, the card doesn't produce graphics and the fan isn't spinning, but the rest of the computer is working fine. I have replaced most of the components, except the HDD. My system specs are:

  • AMD Piledriver FX-4 Quad Core 4300 3.80GHz (Socket AM3+) Processor - Retail
  • Asus M5A97 LE R2.0 AMD 970 (Socket AM3+) DDR3 Motherboard
  • Sapphire Radeon R7 240 Boost 2048MB GDDR3 PCI-Express Card
  • Western Digital Caviar Blue 500GB SATA 6Gb/s 16MB Cache - OEM (WD5000AAKX) HDD
  • Zalman Z3 Plus Midi-Tower - White
  • KRAKEN X31 280mm AIO Water Cooling Unit (liquid cooling)
  • Pioneer 24x Internal DVR-221LBK DVD Rewriter - OEM
  • 4GB (X4) DDR3 PC3-14900 Unbuffered NON-ECC 1.5V 512Meg x
    64
  • RM Series™ RM1000 — 1000 Watt 80 PLUS® Gold Certified Fully Modular PSU
  • Sentry 3 fan controller

Can someone please advise me on what I can do to get graphics?

Thank you,

If fan is not spining on gfx card then it's not getting powered, or it's g00s3d.

What output are you using on the gfx card?

If it's not spinning up its nothing to do with drivers.
And if you don't have a power tester, I'd try another GPU.

(I've got a psu tester you can borrow if you can't lay hands on anothert GPU), but it sounds like your GPU to me.

Remove the video card and re-seat it. If you have a spare PCI-E slot try placing the video card in another slot to see if you can manage to make it work.

First reseat your GPU and ensure the connection to your monitor isn't loose, then try out another GPU in your system if you have one to hand. If the new GPU works, then your current GPU is most likely faulty. Otherwise, if you find both GPUs don't spin up, then I'd say the likely culprit is your motherboard.

it could bee that you need to update your bios i had a problem like this with my x99 system, well i say same problem my mobo would not power up my gpu i know it works.

Hi everyone,

I have tried another graphics card, but got the same result. I have also tried re-seating it, but still no graphics. I have recently replaced the MB, the PSU, the CPU and the graphics card, but still no graphics. I am thinking about getting a graphics card that requires it to be connected to the PSU, incase it is the MB not delivering enough power. The graphics card that I am thing of getting is an ASUS Radeon R7 360 OC 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Expre Graphics Car, which requires an additional 6-pin PCI-E power connection.

I will let you know how it goes when it is installed. Thank you for all the advice so far,

I'm pretty sure the motherboard is supposed to deliver up to 75 watts of power to the GPU, so even if you get a graphics card that requires a 6-pin PCI-E connection it still might not get enough power if your motherboard is faulty. Besides that, you can't even be sure that the PCI-E slot is working at the moment so supplying the GPU with enough power still might not get your system up and running.

Your next step in my opinion should be to try the GPU out in another system, and if it works there then I'd replace the motherboard rather than the GPU.

Hi everyone,

Some of you have suggested that I update my BIOS. How can I update my BIOS when I cannot see it? I have NO integrated graphics, so the graphics card is the only way to get graphics for my computer. But if the graphics card isn't working, then how can I see anything?

Also, I have tried my graphics card in a friend's computer, but that didn't work. I have also replaced the MB, thinking that it was at fault, but still no graphics.

Any more ideas?

Thanks,

Most card have led power indicators check them.. I think that is only on cards with external power or gpu is dead then sorry mate

Have you deffo rulled out your monitor & Lead/s by trying a different monitor + Lead , as you have changed your MB ,, plus the GPU worked on a friends pc.

Hi everyone,

I have tried the new graphics card, but still no luck. I have tried different cables and monitors, but still no luck.

The problem first started when I replaced my air cooling block with a water cooling block, Because of this. I have tried the air cooling system again, but still no luck.

Any more ideas?

Thank you,
