Hi,
This may sound very silly... but i've been away from the whole tech stuff for a while..

Am about to order my new spec.. but I looked at the mobo's specifications... only 1 IDE slot thingy?

I've got 2 hard drives + 1 dvd/cd drive... both IDE.. I haven't got any SATA h/ds.

So.. is there any converter cables or something?

cheers

Most boards only have 1 IDE interface now which is enough for 2 drives. You could use a PCI IDE card or use IDE to SATA converters. If you wont be replacing your hard drives then id recommend a SATA DVDRW drive as they can be had for well under £20

My board, the P5N-E SLI, does however have 2 IDE interfaces :)

you can buy converters that plug into the back of your IDE drive that let you plug them into an Sata port. i believe the first generation of sata drives were just ide drives with an sata interface on them anyway?

Most new Mobos have 1 EIDE Socket but both Primary and Secondary show up in Device Manager so its 1 EIDE Controler as before but only 1 Socket fitted to Mobo's.
