Hi,had a couple of messages from ozaudio regarding me joining in on this FAH business!

Unfortunately I pretty much have no idea what to do/how to go about helping.

Also is there any hardware risk as I really don't want to be ruining my new set up.

Any info would be great fully received.

Kind regards

Nick

No hardware risk, just monitor the temps of gpu / cpu while folding to see how hot things are ,but im sure it wont get to hot! i mean my cpu is at 59/60c with a cheap cooler overclocked to 4.2 which isnt exactly hot for an intel cpu.

http://folding.stanford.edu/English/HomePage

download the all windows version.

http://fah-web.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/getpasskey.py

for your passkey just simply enter your email address and the user name you'll be using to fold with

i think im allowed to post this

set up guide with pictures.

http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?10595-How-to-setup-the-Folding-Home-client-on-your-GPU

name: nipnosis
team: 10
passkey: get passkey fromthe above passkey link i gave you.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

or another way

http://fahtracker.com/

download , open file and click run. it'll then ask to downloan a client list, click yes.

tracker will then open at the top you will see setup , open this then click configure, then tracker settings and in there you will see the name , team ,passkey settings.

name: nipnosis
team: 10
passkey: get passkey fromthe above passkey link i gave you.

also in setup > configure you will see a box that says enable cpu folding, make sure you tick this.

again you will also see to ther left of this a box that says enable gpu folding , tick this box and click autodetect gpus.

if you still are usnure ask more questions or even youtube will help out

Cheers for the info, I went the first way you said but didn't seem to need to configure anything it just started doing its thing straight off.

Currently my cpu is sat at 56'c on the highest core and gpus are at 65/63'c respectively.

My PPD is currently at around 97000

Does all this seem ok, I do however think I might go for some water cooling if I am going to keep this up as my gpu's sound like they might actually take off.

have you added the team number ? otherwise we wont get the points :D

its great that you are helping us aswell!

edit

thats a massive ppd boost in points for this team thanks for helping!

if you drag the folding box wider you will see a drop box, it will say novice, click this and then change it to expert.

youll the be able to click configure and then you'll see identity , in there you will see all the settings for your name/team

make sure the team number is set to 10 , you wont be able to get to the identity box unless you change it to expert mode though.

hope this image explains it for you, :D

Although I can't seem to find my name on the team listings but I guess that is due to not having actually completed anything yet?

you can see here the stats, after youve uploaded a couple of work units youll see your self on the board

http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/user_list.php?s=&t=10

you'll have to scan throw to around page 7 or 8 and i think youll see your self appear on there later today if you get any work units uploaded.

or on the folding program, if you click on your name it will direct you to a website showing your stats! , you can just about see my name in the above image , next to were it says TEAM 10 . you can click either your name or the number 10 and it will direct you to a website.

Hi Guys, I also have joined (more so because it is a worthy cause). If I can add some good points to OcUK, result :)

I think I have it all set as my CPU's are at 100% and GPU's are at 99% (CPU clocked at 4.6Ghz (5.0 is just for benching)). I put team name as 10 and username as Gregster.

Is this it? or am I missing something?

Welcome to the team Mr Gregster and Niposis, ozaudio's harassment must be paying off :)

If you haven't done so already try and disable SLI, that might solve the problem of slowness.

im sure that you can fold with sli been enable these days? its more to do with the accelerated graphics, heres what to do

if windows 7 , make sure areo is turned on ,. but then depending on what browser you use try this, which i think is your problem

internet explorer , internet option > advanced and then tick the box shown in the image below , use software rendering instead of gpu.

or if you are using firefox follow the link below, UNTICK the box if its ticked.

Hi there, also received a message however I do not pay the bills - am I likely to see a large increase in them?

Be good to do this :)

not really

ive been measuring my pc and its power usage and here is what ive got

3570k @ 4.2
gtx 560

aprox 350watt system draw, i guess yours wil be pretty much nearly the same

with this running along with 2 lights & fridge freezer , rest of house on standby i got this
on my prepay meter

£8.63 @ 03.49 am
£8.49 @ 07.44 am

4 hours went by and 14 pence was used.

part part time if you are to worried, i have been leaving my pc on 24 hours the last 3 nights or so.

based on 12 hours folding

350 watt x 12 hours = 4200 / 1000 = 4.2 x price per kwh which in my case £0.13 = around 50 pence for 12 hours folding, but if i wasnt folding my pc would still be turned on and idleing and probaly stil use 150watts inaway...

which im guessing is correct as above i used 14 pence for 4 hours with other items on so 14 pence x 4 as it was 14 pence per 4 hours is £0.56

you have a better psu than me thats not been stressed in any way , i bet yours is more efficient so wasts a tad les power than myn

or you could just fold with your CPU and not use the GPU, this wont cost nothing at all then pretty much. I based the above on you folding flat out with gpu + cpu

Everything is nice and cool under 60'C so I'm welcome to join the folding crew. I can't give my system 24/7, but I'll fold when I have the spare hours to do so!

Now to get SpeedFan set up so this baby and work all day.

my PPD is currently 15,000 and rising?

edit// what is PPD?
