No idea :) fao-ozaudio

im sure that you can fold with sli been enable these days? its more to do with the accelerated graphics, heres what to do

if windows 7 , make sure areo is turned on ,. but then depending on what browser you use try this, which i think is your problem.

Hi ozaudio. Reading back I can give some input. You can render with SLI no problem and no need to disable SLI in Nvidia Control Panel unless you have a specific issue - it used to be the case to use more than one GPU you needed to plug into each GPU or use dummy plug but no longer. It's also much easier to run software rendering in Firefox than the old days of digging into the about:config as you highlighted.

I use FAHControl to render on CPU and GTX 680-SLI [part-time only but looking for ocuk deals for dedi Folding rig] and leave the system to run when I'm not using it. I don't have Aero enabled in Windows 7 but the slowdown is related to the GPU/s being used under FAHControl as my desktop mouse also lags. CPU+GPUs are pegged at 99%~100%, any system under full load will lag. My Folding stats since I started this December.

All look okay? Is there any way to restrict it at all? So I don't get such high temps on my GPU?

GPU is at 42C and CPU at 62-66C, but GPU VRM can get to up 83C if they want to.

Maybe there is a better client for me? I'd rather not use my GPU to fold, as I have my pc fans turned down a fair bit when not in use and this will make a fair amount of heat between cpu and gpu.

I guess I have to install it again with different settings? Will give it a go.

It's using just CPU now for a whopping 7985 per day. Is it worth it? :p

I fold on a 3770k and a 6950. It's worth it for me to fold on my GPU as well, as I lower the memory clocks to around 850 from 1250 and the voltage to 1.06 from 1.1, cutting the power usage by around a third whilst still getting the same PPD, as the shader clock is locked to the core cluck, running at 800. nVidia cards are still better ofc, but I think my trick works nicely with what I've got :)

With the CPU alone I used to get around 18-21k PPD, now it's up to around 26-27k. The PPD from the CPU will drop as it has to feed the GPU, but nonetheless, I very much welcome the extra PPD :D

@BrianB, if electricity costs are a concern, then CPU is the way to go about it, best bang for the buck.

@ Jauntjie
I found that too. People were advising me to fold just with my CPU (1090T) saying the GPU would take too much away from my CPU. I did that for a few months, averaging 8500-9000 PPD.
Couple of weeks ago I added my HD5770 to the folding and went to an average 13000ppd.
The other advice I ignored was disabling cores (had to be a multiple of 2) so GPU would fold right. What a load of tosh!!

I suspect it's old information from the older clients, like the 'Environment Variables' which aren't needed anymore. Whatever, its not valid advice anymore.

At the moment the bonuses are only on CPU WUs with GPU due real soon now. You have to complete ten WUs within the time frame to get bonus points and then keep 80% of WUs completed in time.

18-21k is a bit poor for a 3770k @ 4.5GHz. I'd expect well over 30k from that as I'm getting around 19k from a 3570 @ 3.8GHz. But I don't use client 7 for CPU folding if I can avoid it, preferring to use client 6 in a Linux appliance under VMWare Player.
