Hey all

I know absolutely nothing about hard drives. Currenty using a pants maxtor ide drive.

I'm looking for a SATA II drive, about 160GB, and it needs to be silent, i'm fed up with this maxtor :p

I'm gonna have probably around £50 max, but not too sure on what brand to go for etc.

Any help appreciated :)

Danke

Samsung SpinPoint P SP2504C 250GB SATA-II 8MB Cache - OEM (HD-018-SA)

just a £1 over. :)

Samsungs are very, very quite, an alternative however is seagate.

well if u can spend a little more go for this
Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 250GB ST3250620AS SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM (HD-079-SE) Price: £52.50 (£61.69 Including VAT at 17.5%)
i have the 320 gig version and there a great drive. and they are perpendicular .and its worth paying a little more for this drive .if u wanna know more about perpendicular here a little video for u to look at

get the Seagate 10 drive mate. all drive will be made this way soon . the Samsung SpinPoint P SP2504C 250GB SATA-II 8MB is kind of old tec now .

Aslong as it's better than the maxtor then anythings an upgrade. Also, arn't the Spinpoints like the quietest drives? If not then doh, just bought one :p I already ordered one after all this info flooded in :/

the segate barracuda has the longest warrenty, is the fastest by a long long way and is still a very quiet drive. there is nothign about a spinpoint that warrents buying one over a seagate 'cuda .10:)

I want to get two new drives one for windows etc and one for games, spinpoints are the drives that keep coming up,are they better than raptors?
