No insruance and stopped !

I am an expert in this area unfortunatly.

I had insurance for 2 years with the same company, for some reason they decided not to renew it one day, 4 weeks later I was in a crash.

My new car was almost written off and the insurance company wouldn't pay.

I was rather concerned for several months but I found a letter from the insurance saying I had a current policy after it had apparently expired and before the crash.

After me standing in court and pleading that this wasn't my fault I managed to get out of it.

Other guys insurance paid because he went through a red light, I had 3 witnesses, lets say I was very lucky and I can't believe I didn't get banned and end up in 10k debt.

However I have a couple of slightly iffy mates who have both been caught doing it on purpose, one is now banned and the other is going to court soon, he will likely be banned, if he had a licence at all :O

Foools, I thought my expirience would have tought them.

Haha what a retard - the NCB would save him more than he saves from cancelling policies when he's not using them

He is one HUGE SUPER MASSIVE retard :D No one is that stupid. He must be doing this on puropse to avoid paying the full premium

Can't all these cameras along our roads just automatically pick out the uninsured drivers the same way they pick out speeding drivers?

It's only a matter of time i reckon.

This guy will definitely not get away with this.

It's going to be at least a £200 fine 6 points and if he doesn't provide proof of insurance within 14 days stating that he was covered at the time of the pull, it's crushed and if he does provide proof of insurance once he's insured it, he's got recovery and storage fees to pay. Plus the insurance company see him as extremely high risk so the annual premium will be considerably more.

He's not a very smart man by the sounds of it

ban the *****, 2 years mandatory for no insurance if you ask me, it's worse than drink driving, at least when you're hammered you can half claim your judgement was impaired, this is just asking for you to kill someone and leave a family in potentially thousands of pounds worth of debt

Chances are he might get away with it. I have known ppl who have been stopped (because the vehicle probably showed up on the police system as not insured) and they have been given a producer. They simply have a cover note which you receive at the time of taking out the insurance policy but the insurance is no longer valid or has been cancelled. All the police needed to do was actually ring up/check with the insurance company but they never did. BTW I've known this to happen on more than one occasion.

This was all quite along time ago mind you, nowadays the systems the police use are a lot more efficient in showing up vehicles with no insurance. I heard they are all linked to some database. I use to get pulled over quite a lot for no reason going back about 4-6 years when I had an older e36 BMW, not for along time now though.

My dad got stopped with no Tax and MOT. They took the car, he didn't get any points, and just a small fine to get the car back.

When does driving without insuarnce make you more likely to kill someone?

Because people who knowingly drive without insurance are selfish cockbags, and are likely to have similar low standards in everything else they do, such as driving a car.

What a bizarre thing to say.

Because it's the simple irony of driving without insurance. As for the drink driving, if you're drunk but insured the victim still gets paid for their losses. This world revolves around money which is why people get compensation for losses. No insurance means the victim has to foot their own bill.

whilst I agree with all the 'ban the idiot' comments, it seems a little harsh when you see on 'road wars' with the police saying "we've warned you 6 times already about having no tax/insurance, now get it sorted or we'll nick you next time"

double standards ftl :/

An uninsured driver is FAR less likely to kill someone than a drunk driver.

Compensation has nothing to do with it.

Surely its better to not have an accident rather than to have one and then be able to pay compensation? Your logic is truly bizarre.

As others have said I strongly doubt that he'll get away with it. And I rather suspect the Magistrate chappy will take a dim view of him lying to the police about it, and up the fine.
