I'm on Windows 7, i've been trying to get my Netgear DG834GT to connect to the internet to no avail.

Syncs okay at the exchange and i get an IP address on the Status Screen (Static IP). However Network and Sharing Centre shows that i can't get on the Internet. Yet i can unplug the network cable and adsl cable and replug it into the Speedtouch and straightaway it works again. Whats ammis?

I had a problem with a Netgear DG834G yesterday, also couldnt not connect to the net. It worked fine a week ago, but yesterday i thought it was dead.

In the end i reset it and it worked fine, just an idea ;)

I'm static IP so there is no requirement for username/password.
I'm thinking its a windows TP/IP issue but after that i'm stuck.

Can you not ping anything from your router? What does the logs say? "Chap authentication error" or anything along those lines?

Have you got the VCI / VPI settins correct in the set up page?
Set the Static IP and default gateway?

0/101 is correct for BE. I had a similar problem when I was sent a new BEBox and tried to get online too hastily, ignoring the included paperwork and not properly remembering some settings a couple of years after first signing up.

Try going through the configuration wizard and setting Subnet mask = 255.255.252.0.

The Default gateway on my router begins with 87.194... and the one for your PC (the router's default IP) is 192.168.1.254*, unless you've reconfigured that too.

I also suggest adjusting the secondary DNS server (which has depreciated) to 87.194.255.155 or, as I do, one of OpenDNS's server IPs.

*edit: Should have read you were using a DG834 :)
Ring BE or submit a ticket if you need confirmation of the settings.

Has the DG834GT ever worked, or you got it to replace the Speedtouch and not used it before?

Have you tried hardware resetting the DG834GT and using wizard to detect set-up connection?

With an unfolded paper clip pressed in the small hole that is by power connector on back, while router is turned on. The tick light on the front will turn orange, and I normally keep it held in for 10 secs while light is orange.

If going to try this, you might as well update firmware first, as meant to hardware reset after a firmware update.
