I'm not sure when this happened, or what has caused it, but I can't play FPS'ers anymore. After 5 mins they make me want to vom :(

I used to be able to play UT2004 for hours, but these days I can't stand it.

It seemed to start with HL2, I never got to finish it and the boat levels just finished me off. I tried playing F.E.A.R and COD2, but it's the same story with both. Even PDX on the X360 does it.

The strange thing, isthat I can play World of Warcraft for hours on end and I'm fine. I can play anything other than a FPS and I'm fine (although driving games can cause problems sometimes).

My work mates have just started to play Counter-Strike: Source every night and I've tried to join in for the fun, but both nights I've had to bomb out after 15 minutes feeling rough.

Anyone else have problems with this?
Someone also recommended eating Ginger while playing or taking a travel sickness pill before playing (over the counter stuff, non medical please).

i used to get this when playing the old hl in open gl, but now im all good playing cs 1.6 for hours! have you tried changing the res down to like 800x600 so you are getting a nice high framerate? this could help it seemed to help me in the past as i could last longer playing! dont know why though!

Framerate isn't a problem unfortunatly. I'm on a AMD64 3700+ with a 7800GTX...it doesn't go under 100fps. I've tried with and without V-Sync on this TFT, but it makes little difference.

Mouse sensitivity didn't help mush either. If it's really low I'm OK, but then you can't aim.

Try sitting a lot further away from your TFT. I had similar issues when upgrading from a 20.1" TFT to a 24" WS TFT a few months back and just pushing the 24" back another 6" made it all ok again.

Also as others have said vsync helps as your eyes do not get distracted by tearing artifacts which can cause vision issues/headaches.

TRy turning the lights off or sea sickness pills.

That would be great to hear in a conversation.

Bob - "Fancy a gam of CSS?"

Spike - "Yeah just let me take my travel sickness pills"

Bob - "Eh?"

:p

Yeah, i get this feeling sometimes too mate, usually happens in medal of honour games, hence why i stopped buying them, or in games where you have to figure things out, some of the games in HL2 had me feeling strange. Im fine is CSS, BF2 and others though.

I got a bit sick playing FPSs once, I found that turning the brightness down helped me, and not sitting so close to the screen. :)

Good advice, I used to have the same problem, with me it was sickly head aches, lowering the brightness and backing off from the screen helps a lot, also be consious of how tense your shoulders and neck are, sit back and relax and don't try to consentrate in on the screen to hard, I find in fps's its all to easy to tense up without realising it and have your nose only a few inches away from the screen trying to get those headshots etc, this just can't be good for you.

:o I know exactly what you mean. I was playing Halo the other day and got to a checkpoint and then sat back and realised how tense my stomach muscles were, and that I think I'd hardly been breathing...

There was a big uproar about this one. Something to do with the FOV in CSS and HL2 causes those prone to travel-sickness to.. well.. get travel sick.

http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=HL2+Travel+sick&btnG=Search&meta=

Take a look at that. There's a FOV change command for the source engine, I think, so when you're in, try changing it to something different.

That works great for HL2 but you can't use it in CS:S (which already uses 90 as the default FOV) :(

I wonder if it's my sinuses as I sometimes feel a bit motion sick in the car WHILE DRIVING! I've never heard of the driver getting motion sickness! :p

Anyway...thanks for the suggestions, keep them coming.

I never get sickness or anything but if im stuck on a single player FPS running around trying to find where to go i get a banging headache, i then have to just turn the game off and wait a while.

Im only 15 so im no expert or anything lol.

But this used to happen with me,

When i had my old CRT monitor it was fine, i could play cs : source for hours and hours on end, Then i purchased a TFT Flat Screen Monitor and then i couldn't play for much longer than 20 Mins. It just made me feel "ill" looking at the screen, i altered the brightnes on my monitor and i found this helped me a LOT!

Also, i get this rather irregular feeling when im tired.
