I just did a search and found no threads with chromium in the title. Why is there such a lack of interest? It's a bit of a shame, I know, that Chrome OS won't be available for download, but surely chromium has sparked at least someone's interest? Am I missing something about these which makes them so uninteresting?

I have no idea where Chrome OS is meant to fit into my life. Android on tablets can do most things. Small Linux distros run netbooks just fine and Windows 7 for pc is awesome. Do I need another OS?

I use Chrome as my browser on my install, I just dont see why i would ever start a thread or need help on using it though :)

:D  As funny as this post is, it (and the other posts in this thread) are indicative of how little google have advertised chrome OS. Will the big marketing push come after the hardware comes on the market?

Just to clarify for SMN, chrome OS is a Linux-based operating system by Google, it is not the same as Chrome the browser.

I'd heard that they'd cancelled the project and merged the teams to make Android a more flexible OS, make it better for larger resolutions such as on tablets and the like.

I think you cracked it with the publicity/advertising angle. The whole thing just seems to have fizzled out at the moment.

Chrome OS just does not seem to have any get up and go behind it hence the non concern by the general, computer using population.

:)

Think he was being ironic....if not, ouch :D:eek:

As far as i can tell its pretty boring to look at. Its an operating system designed to run a browser using the cloud for storage and very little end user hardware. If you have used chrome (browser) then youve pretty much seen it all already. This could be a *killer* configuration for netbooks if they can make the hardware cheap enough. They do need to get it to market quickly though as others are gaining ground in this space.

You can try it out using builds by Hexxeh here http://chromeos.hexxeh.net/

FYI - Chromium and Chromium OS are the open source projects behind Chrome and Chrome OS. You can compile your own versions of Chromium OS from source, but Hexxeh has done the work needed to make it run well on regular netbooks so you can use his builds to get a good idea on the progress of Chrome OS.
