Hey guys

Not sure why but today after turning on my computer and seeing the boot up screen and windows 8 logo...it ends up with no monitor signal. I've tried removing my graphics card and changing the bios settings to use the integrated one but to no avail. Help?

Is it doing something such as installing updates or similar before it then displays the desktop?

Have you tried just leaving it and seeing if it sorts itself out?

Err...

When you tired integrated gfx you physically removed the card and plugged the monitor into the board?

Try a different input/cable into the monitor? if you are using dvi then try hdmi.

I tried removing the card and changed the settings in bios to use the IGFX and changed it to the board hdmi. Tried with card too but both just show the windows8 logo and then a black screen.

Looking for a DVI cable atm

Its not the cable then if you can see the BIOS+logo.

You say you tried safemode, but i don't know if safe mode on later OS use a low resolution like it use to.

I.E if you changed the gfx control panel and set a resolution/frequency the display can not show then you will have a blank screen.

So you see the BIOS screen, windows logo screen, (then the gfx driver loads) and it goes wrong from there.

But then that shouldnt effect using the integrated display.

Strip the PC down to its bare parts, so single ram stick, just the SSD.

I tried it again with the graphics card and there's just a black screen after logo :/

So you want me to try it without the graphics and one stick only?

Yes, strip it back to just the parts need to get to desktop.

After that my knowledge is exhausted and I can only suggest do a reinstall.

So I just tried it again two times like you asked with bios setting change each time of using IGFX. Both times after boot+logo I get the signal loss and end up with a black screen.

I'm not able to that unfortunately

No guesses which component is broken? I can see the CPU stuff in the bios and memory so I guess they are fine. The graphics card powers up fine when plugged in too so I guess my PSU is okay also. Just having problems with connection with integrated or dedicated graphics card

What is the resolution of the monitor, it sounds like you have set your ress too high and now when the drivers load its not supporting the monitor at the set ress.

you need to, plug it into a tv forcing the drivers to use a new ress for first load, then uninstall the GFX drivers and plug your monitor back in then reinstall your drivers.

When you uninstall your drivers it will ask if you want to save your setting, click NO!

Not sure why I'm having these issues tho as it's been working fine for a few months now. Resolution is 1920x1080p. I'll try plugging it into a tv. Not sure how I'll get to see anything past the boot screen but will reply in a bit

your GFX card will seve the setting for the monitor and if you plug in a new monitor it will go to default setting for the new monitor so if you are having a ress related problem this will fix it

if you dont get a image it could be a bad driver update and i dont know how you get round that without reinstalling windows

But he tried the integrated gfx, and I doubt he even had the intel gfx driver installed for that.

And then to set both drivers to resolutions that are "out of range" for the monitor? sounds unlikely.

mmm yes i didn't see that. if you have a second drive try a windows reinstall and see if that changes anything
