There's plenty around still though loads have gone now, but search and you shall find them :D
What sort of board you looking for? Cheap and cheerful or the dogs b****? :D

looking for the best 478 motherboard for pc3200 and 6800gt agp , 3.2ghz p4 HT really below £75 ? is that possible? i am not the best at picking good motherboards...i got a trustworthy old asrock p4s61 in there at the moment but it sure do with an update..

Try and find an MSI 865PE Neo2 - I got one recently from a well known auction site for £20 plus the postage and it does almost everything I can think of. Clocks like a demon too.

think the asus p4 boards are supposed to be pretty good, not a pentium boy myself, so not upto date with p4 boards.

If anyone is looking for a socket 478 motherboard then probably the best ever made is the Asus P4C800 (about £70-80). If your budget is lower, then the Asus P4P800 comes within a few % of the performance for £20-30 less.

Try and get an I875P chipset in whatever model you choose as that is the fastest 478 chipset and still only a few % slower than the newest Intel offerings (I'm running my 670J on the I875P!).

What about the Abit IC7 - MAX 3 thought they were the best p4 clockers as there was something wrong with the volts on the asus. They also look cool :D

really need advice

I just solving this problem too.
Which mobo i should buy for P4 3.2+xt850pe+2x1GBcorsair?

Now i have P4P800deluxe....but there is huge Voltage droping(around 0.15V...so i cant OC enough.I have two P4 3.2...one of them is 30cap bit and i hope for better OC
than 220fsb and even this is not stable anyway :-( (voltage Vdrop mod is not for me)
Maybe there is problem with 7HDD in the system...or USB disk...its really bother me :-(
PS is Seasonic 600W.

What do you suggested?
Abit IC7 Max 3
Asus P4C800-E Deluxe
Asus P4C800 Deluxe
GIGABYTE GA-8KNXP v1. or v2
or smt else??

thx for help

P.S. my P4 [email protected] works ok but there wasnt almost V droping and
last two month i have to run at [email protected] for rock stable

Best 478 motherboard is the Asus P4C800E Deluxe, providing you do the droop mod to cure the voltage fluctuations. Was able to get my 3GHz Northwood up to 3.7GHz on air with that.

If your not prepared to do a bit of soldering, I'd recommend Abit IC7 Max 3 or the DFI board (can't remember the exact model).

Those are all Canterwood 875 chipset boards.

I have the gigabyte 8knxp its ok if you dont want to do a lot of overclocking nice stable board, but id say the IC7 Max3 is the best.

According to the Inquirer intel havent stopped with 478 yet

THE 478 pin Pentium 4 is not yet dead although its days are numbered.

Intel issued a PCN (product change notification) on the 24th of January to boxed Pentium 4s with 533MHz and 800MHz buses on the 90 nanometre package.

It's a core stepping change from E-0 to G-1, and starts to swing into action at the end of this month.

The changes are that the CPU ID will change, an updated BIOS is needed, and the chips will be market lead (Pb) free.

There will still be 478 boards around, mainly to replace the thousands which will die over the coming years. The 865 chipset was awesome for stability and OCing.. had the old P4 2.4c @ 3.3 on that beast :)
