THE 478 pin Pentium 4 is not yet dead although its days are numbered.
Intel issued a PCN (product change notification) on the 24th of January to boxed Pentium 4s with 533MHz and 800MHz buses on the 90 nanometre package.
It's a core stepping change from E-0 to G-1, and starts to swing into action at the end of this month.
The changes are that the CPU ID will change, an updated BIOS is needed, and the chips will be market lead (Pb) free.
