I've run out of space on all of my hard drives and want a new one but I've used up all my hard drive bays.

Is it possible to get something to convert a CD drive bay? (I have 2 spare ones). If so where do i get one?

There are plenty of options for mounting 3.5" HDDs in 5.25" bays:

  • 5.25" to 3.5" mounting kits
  • Bungee cord suspension
  • SilentMaxx type enclosures

The mounting kits should be cheap (£3-4) but you'll need to look about as OCUK don't stock them. Bungee suspension is normally used to decouple HDDs from the case to reduce noise but it's a cheap and cheerful way of mounting - sewing elastic is just as good.

Yes mate get some elastic and suspend them in you 5.25 drive bays you should be able to get 2 in there and its cheap and easy.

There are also options using caddies, allowing you to fit up to 4 drives into the space from 2*5 1/4 drives - search the web for caddies and you should find them - depends how much you want to expand - if it's just a couple of drives then the bungie option is a winner.
