No more Red Dwarf :(

Although I thought Series 8 was pap, it still had its moments and I'd like to see another one made.

Would be nice to see the crew together and at least have some good brit comedy again rather than the absolute horse cack thats is currently being squeezed out.

Series 8 was better than 7 because it returned mainly to the old premise of Rimmer and Lister stuck back together again; the entire concept of the show from day one. I was appalled the first time I saw series 7 and 8 but over time and from rewatching them, especially with the DVD commentaries, I've found merit in them.

The best series are I and II, with Marooned from III thrown in. Kryten sticks out like a sore thumb as a revival piece in series III, but eventually comes into his own. By VI they had a great team dynamic going, and even though the concept of the show had completely changed from the first two series (almost unrecognisably so), the plots, dialogue and characters had all fallen into place. Such a shame Rob Grant left, and a real cop-out over the way the whole nanobots thing turned out, resurrecting the crew and everything, it just seemed like another show revival technique, with series VII providing a stop-gap.

It would be great if they could get everyone together for a feature-length special or three-episode series and take it out with a bang, but the actors are all a decade older and any explanation for the fact would probably seem contrived.

My suggestion is to read the two books that pretty much finish with all the loose ends tied up, and imagine them as films. And what awesome films they would have made.

kinda how I feel although I wouldn't say appalled... they are good though!

I own the series I-VI DVD's, no intention of getting the others. I think they should let it be. I'd also hate to see some dodgy Christmas special like Only fools where they try and tie up all loose ends.

The Aigburth Arms has been re modeled and has changed it's name to The Victoria. I am thinking of getting a petition going to have the name changed back before the year 2155 :)

Marooned is an amazing episode. I can't help thinking that Red Dwarf VIII realised this and tried to stretch an entire series out of it, but no-one's heart was in it anymore. The script was terrible and this was exactly the reason that Chris Barrie refused to be in Red Dwarf VII.

I always wondered, in hindsight, whether it would have been better to leave it at Red Dwarf VI from a plot point of view. The ending of VI was such a fantastic cliffhanger that if there hadn't been a VII or VIII it would almost have been better to leave it on such a note than follow it with the awfulness of the next two series.

LEGION: I wasn't aware you had an interest in art, Mr Rimmer?
RIMMER: Many's a night we while away the wee hours contemplating a Caravaggio, discussing its shape, themes and form.
CAT: The pointy-stick game doesn't get a look-in anymore.
RIMMER: Hmm. Marvellous. (Crosses over to a small, angular box near the door.) Now this three-dimensional sculpture in particular is quite exquisite. Its simplicity, it's bold, stark lines... pray, what do you call it?
LEGION: The light switch.
RIMMER: The light switch.
LEGION: Yes.
RIMMER: I couldn't buy it, then?
LEGION: Not really. I need it to turn the lights on and off.

Rimmer: [to a Rogue Simulant] I don't know who you are, but boarding this vessel is an act of war, ergo we surrender! And as prisoners of war, I invoke the All Nations Agreement article number 39436175880932/B.
Kryten: 39436175880932/B? "All nations attending the conference are only allocated one car parking space?" Is that entirely relevant, sir? I mean, here we are in mortal danger and you're worried about the Chinese delegates bringing two cars.

Rimmer: [entering a Western bar with Lister and the Cat] I've seen Westerns. I know how to speak cowboy.
[Rimmer walks up to the bar to order a drink]
Rimmer: Dry white wine and Perrier, please

Cat : This sounds like a job for the riviera kid *dance + spanish guitar*

Cat : *Gunshot bullet hits 2 tincans and then knocks the sign onto krytens head knocking him down*

Gunmen of the apocalypse best episode ever.

Just have to say about last season of red dwarf, krytie tv. HILLARIOUS. Shame we didnt see kochanski naked tho hehe, sounded good when kryten was describing what he had to do in the tram thing with the other canaries. :P

Best ever was backwards i think. Then again marooned was great too i love the eps where its just rimmer and lister conflicting etc.

One of the eps on one of the later series i liked was the one where kryten did a rollercoaster ride for lister to show how much he hated rimmer. That was mint.

Emohawk (Gelf Bride?), the virtual reality western, Legion, reverse world and Qweeg. :D

That's how I'll remember RD. Seasons 5/6/78... you're doing it wrong.
