Looks better to me, but I'm not sure that is from an ST24, looks more like it's from the Zetec S.

In my ST the trim is a bark blue, at least it looks blue to me

That's a massive improvement.

If you're keeping the old trim, why not rub it down & experiment with it? Try piano black with a couple of coats of lacquer, see what it looks like
