No moths

I've not seen as many bugs in the house this year compared to normal:(

Not even as many wasps as usual.

Having said that I go out the front door and I can immediately hear half a dozen crickets in the front garden even if I can't see them (it's possibly helping them that I reseed it this year and I'm whilst it's hot/dry I'm deliberately not mowing it).

Live right next to Hanpstead heath só bugs are pretty common, especially moths and butterflies. Noticeable lack of bees and wasps though, used to wake-up to the sound of one of them trying to get through a slightly cracked window, haven’t seen either this summer so far :/

Wasps have been close to non-existent the last 3-4 years around the parts of Somerset I frequent. What used to be the main season for them not one to be seen, get some rare ones earlier than normal (usually acting very dozy) and a small number much later than normal and that is it.

had a load of the tiny thin moths this year. best moth thing i saw was the searchlight on top of the Luxor

I find it alarming how low the apparent population of moths (and other insects) is. When I leaned to drive 30 years ago, a night drive was like being in the Millennium Falcon in hyper drive.
Now you rarely see a moth at all.

I live in the countryside backing onto a large open field with a pond etc in it.

I get absolutely loads of moths. Loads of butterflies in my garden too, and dragon flies too which is awesome.

The moths and flies can do one though.

Wierd isn't it I've seen bees they're not common though wasps seem to have vanished altogether

Yeah see the odd one, but I think they may be that hoverfly type that look similar. I remember years ago wasps all over the place when outdoors with food and drinks around.
I read that wasps/bees have declined by 50% in the last 20yrs which explains it.

Loads of moths, midges and bees, but my garden is full of different flowers and some 'wild' parts (it's not huge, just a victorian terraced house) but it's regularly full of all sorts of things and up to 30 bees are in between the flowers on a nice sunny day, but you look along and can see only 1 other garden of about 20 that have any other flowers in. Nearly everyone has a mixture of competely cut short grass and paved - people treat their gardens differently nowadays, ease of use and completely cut back but that's what has driven away a load of insects.. they kinda need that to live!

Had one of these elephant moths in our house last night, was beautiful and haven't seen one in ages. Did fly around like a huge bomber, no grace or accuracy.... :)

(not my image, but it looked just like this)

Haven't seen one of these in years.
Remember quite a few when I was a kid
