Maybe its to do with all the bat protection going on in recent years. We intervene, we get effects.
Not even as many wasps as usual.
Wierd isn't it I've seen bees they're not common though wasps seem to have vanished altogetherWasps have been close to non-existent the last 3-4 years around the parts of Somerset I frequent. What used to be the main season for them not one to be seen, get some rare ones earlier than normal (usually acting very dozy) and a small number much later than normal and that is it.

Haven't seen one of these in years.Loads of moths, midges and bees, but my garden is full of different flowers and some 'wild' parts (it's not huge, just a victorian terraced house) but it's regularly full of all sorts of things and up to 30 bees are in between the flowers on a nice sunny day, but you look along and can see only 1 other garden of about 20 that have any other flowers in. Nearly everyone has a mixture of competely cut short grass and paved - people treat their gardens differently nowadays, ease of use and completely cut back but that's what has driven away a load of insects.. they kinda need that to live!
Had one of these elephant moths in our house last night, was beautiful and haven't seen one in ages. Did fly around like a huge bomber, no grace or accuracy....
(not my image, but it looked just like this)
Is there anything that you don't hate and that you don't whine about?
