No performance increases with Crossfire

Hello OcUK

I have been running a few benchmark tests with my cards to see if there's any improvement with my crossfire set up. But I cannot see any performance increases at all. Running L4D with crossfire, making sure the settings in CCC are set to "Use application settings" and it really starts to struggle with everything set to max. Vsync is off, as well as the one in CCC.

I have been running 3DMark Vantage (Basis Edition) in crossfire (bridge connectors are connected). Problem is I seem to be getting some weird graphic issue as soon as I perform the test. The first test "Graphics Test 1// JANE NASH" starts off with a jet ski entering a tunnel. With in 2 seconds the water is suddenly shooting upwards and everything is a total mess. But it only happens with the water, The rest of the test is fine after that. With Crossfire switched off I don't encounter any problems at all. But the score results are all the same. I have removed, cleaned, and reinstalled ATI Catalyst™ 10.6 Suite for Windows 7 (64 bit) in case there was some sort of issue with the drivers, but no luck there.

I have been running a few stress tests on the cards individually using FurMark to see if one of the two is defective. There have been no graphic anomalies or crashes at all.

All the drivers, as far as I know, are all up to date. Nothing is overclocked. I will post my system spec's below

OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64
CPU: Intel i7 920 @ 2.67
RAM: XMS 6GB Corsair 8-8-8-24
Motherboard: Asus P6T SE
Video Cards: Sapphire ATI HD 5850 x2
HD: WD VelociRaptor 300 GB
PSU: Antec TruePower 750W

Would be grateful for any advice and suggestions.

10.6 is crap for CF it gave me bsod, loads of people have had issues with CF+10.6. go to earlyer drivers, i use 10.4 with no problems

Set catalyst ai to 'standard' :)

I had noticed that this tends to turn itself on when Crossfire is enabled. I tend to keep it switched off as I sometimes found some games throw a hissy fit with AI on.

But I will defiantly give it another shot. Will let you know what happens...

I read something similar to another post regarding this. It would be a bit disheartening if it's a dodgy release from AMD. I will give this a go if I still get problems.

Disabling Catalyst AI will disable crossfire. Crossfire requires AI to be enabled, otherwise you'll only be using a single card, hence the lack of any performance increase.

Install 10.4a / 10.5 drivers, set catalyst AI to standard.
