I have my mobo, cpu/heatsink, ram, psu connected in a system without a graphics card or hdd at the moment.

It powers on with the cpu fan spinning and lights on the mobo but i dont hear any beeps to tell me there isnt a graphics card like i expected.

Should i be hearing some kind of beep? And if i should, any idea what could be wrong?

thanks in advance

Got all the power connectors in, the additional CPU power connectors and graphics card powers?

Did you put the spacers in between the case and the motherboard? Might be worth taking it all out the case and trying to power it on incase something is shorting out.

OP does not have the gpu installed ;):p

It's hard to say, but I would do what J.B suggested in regards to motherbaord power supply.

Silly question do you have a case spaeker installed.

Only other thing is to wait and install the gpu, or do a CMOS reset.

I dont have a case speaker installed as far as im aware... i thought all mobos came with things that make beep sounds...

could that be the problem? lol

That could be the case, the only board I had which (I think) had a built in speaker was the Abit IP35 Pro.

An ATX Control Kit would come in handy here maybe...

Im sure my P5Q came with a speaker, you have to connect it yourself tho

Well if you have to connect it yourself... then I haven't. So that's good news.

I didn't see anything in the box, been looking.

Could you shed some more light on this connect it yourself speaker?

Just for closure...

Asus boards never come with an on-board speaker it seems and my P182 case didn't come with one either. So no beeps for me.

A quick clear of the RTM cache sorted everything out though and now I have an awesome system.
