No power..nothing

yep very tempted, It's just that I'd heard only good things about the Antec trupower. I had read reviews about it and it was one of the main reasons for buying the case (as it came with such a good! psu)

Thanks for response, Looks like I'll be stabbing the buy button pretty soon - may as well get a new mouse as well, oh and a pad, and a bigger hdd, and.... ;)

I'd get a Seasonic, Tagan or FSP power supply rather than a Hiper, but if u must have modular get the Enermax Liberty ;)

So.. fitted the Seasonic 600 and rig is still dead as a dodo

I'm guessing mobo must be dead then, would this be any good?

DFI LanParty UT NF4 Ultra-D (Socket 939) PCI-Expres - 71 squid

it's on offer this week, or

Asrock 939SLI-eSATA2 (Socket 939 & Upgradable to AM2) PCI-Express - 52 squid (+ upgradabubble to AM2)

I have 2gb pc3200 RAM

Thanks for any comments

BTW expensive hobby this.. :(

You wont be able to ine a socket 939 on a am2 mobo because socket am2 is 940 pin not 939

What's this all about then? How does it upgrade since the two platforms aren't socket compatible? Have they somehow engineered the socket to be pin-compatible with both, or would you need some kind of daughterboard or riser card? If so, wouldn't it snap off if you tried to fit one of the 600+g third-party coolers you'd need to high clocks and low temps? And what about the RAM? Will the AM2s be happy running on DDR, or would you again need a daughterboard with DDR2 sockets on it?

BTW the reason the PC was swithed off was because of a power cut we had a few hours ago but as the symptom is the same as has happened before (when I have turned it off myself), I don't see why it should be significant

Do you not have a surge protector connected?

It says 'Upgradable to AM2 socket with AM2 CPU Board (Not included)' here - maybe it's a typo..

Guilty  I'm not certain the power cut was the cause but wouldn't do any harm to get one, any model suggestions? couldn't find one here at OC

Edit: So I looked harder here at OC and found the Belkin surgemaster and guess what, I just peered at my 4-way power extension thing to see what I currently plug my pc gear into and yes you've guessed it, it's only the exact same model, heh I don't even remember buying it! Maybe I should upgrade it to one of those 'uninteruptable' power supply jobbies :)

HA! I haven't seen once of those since 1989! And that was on a 286 motherboard that was upgradeable to 386SX!:D Brilliant!

Despite the warm retro glow it lights in my heart, however, I'd never get one in a million years, because the CPU socket is so close to the mobo connector that most 3rd party heatsinks wouldn't fit - and if they did some of the heavier ones would snap the daughterboard off due to the weight!
