No signal on new monitor = help!

SO my AOC G2460PG just arrived. Plugged it in (display port only), and... nothing.

The AOC logo comes on when it powers on, but then the "no signal" notice flashes up, and the screen goes dark.

Pressing the menu button lightens the screen (activates the backlight) but no OSD appears.

How can I troubleshoot this, and know whether I have a faulty monitor or it's an issue with my display port?
 
No, but it's sorted now.

I reconnected the cable several times, checked it was fully seated. And then for some reason on about the eighth try of unplugging and reconnecting it came to life...

Yeah, very embarrassing! :o

I swear I'd reconnected and checked the connection both ends half a dozen times at least.

I was getting very anxious and in despair threw a thread up here... whereupon it decides to work when I reconnect it once more. I think I used a bit more force shoving the DP lead into the monitor 'cause I was getting a bit cross so I guess that may have helped...
 
lol yeah, sometimes you need a bit of force with new stuff to connect the cables.

its typical it starts working once you have done the post, if you didn't I bet you would still be sitting there trying to get the monitor to work lol
 
I'd monitor it for a few days (No pun intended), if it starts to act up again I'd have the cables replaced.
