no signal on screen

sooo built my neice a system last year it has been working perfect since then untill this week. turned it on and there is nothing on screen. all fans spin led on mobo is lit hdd spins up. but the screen stays blank with just the lil pwer light blinking as no signal being sent.

the systems is

amd 3700
x800xl agp
1gbcorsair value ram
80gb maxtor
running xp home

nothing fancy but enoiugh for childrens games

the oldest part is the x800xl as that used to be mine and is near 4 years old now its a fanless one soo i cnt tell if its getting power by seeing the fan spin.

my question is what d you think is most likely to have caused a prob ?? i am leaning towards gfx failure as most other things would result in picture but no boot. unfortuanlly i dont have agp systme to try it in or another agp card to try..

soo any other ideas before i but a cheap agp card ?

Have you cleared the CMOS?

Pull it to bits & rebuild it. Something has come loose or is not connected properly.

nope there no beeps, but i dont think there is buzzer atached

. i reseated the gfx card but to no avail

.

ill try reconecting all the power cables. no signal on screen whats so ever rules out a lot of thinsg in my opinion as normally you get something but it dont work.

unfortunately it doesnt rule out a lot if it doesnt have the system speaker

it could be making CPU beeps, memory beeps, graphics beeps etc.. but you dont know.

yeah that is true

,

i built the system last year and i know i had probs then but even with out the cpu working it still displayed something. oh well. will take a look at it.
