No signal problem on monitor

Hello fellas wondering if you can help me.

I Have a friend who just bought a system from here pre-built using system configurator on the website and he got it 2 days ago.

He had no problems using the computer for the first day ... i used team viewer to install everything for him and update gfx drivers etc. Downloaded gpuz as he has a a MSI 970 card and the fans where not working so asked him to monitor this to see if it was a built in feature as when it gets to a certain temp the fans might start up.

Now all he has done so far is update windows ...update drivers for card installed league of legends and nearly done installing world of warcraft. The first day LoL ran fine and he played one or 2 games and he continued to let WoW download overnight ....now with about 1.5Gb to go to finish the download but the game had optimal data to actually play the game he launched the game and logged in but as soon as he moved his character his monitor black screened.

He told me this today and he then went on to play LoL and the same thing ...black screened saying no signal detected or something.

At first he had the VGA and the DVI cable going from his monitor to his card+mobo at the same time (he didnt know there should only be the DVI connected) but hey it still worked the first day but for some reason not the second day.

Now i was talking with him and asked him to try all combinations of connections.

Hes tried VGA only cable into the mobo (didnt work)....DVI only cable into the card (didnt work) and VGA with DVI Converter into the card (this actually worked but still limited the screen to 60 hertz and fps).

With the above the VGA+DVI converter seems to keep the monitor working and like i said he has tried all combinations of ways to connect the wire and also manually setting the output from the monitor appropriately.

Today he also tried plugging into a a hdmi cable from his card to his tv and still black screen.

So i hope that's enough info and any help on what the problem could be would be great ....is it the monitor ? card or even something totally different?

Heres the rig.

Posted this in the monitors section but suppose it may be more suitable in here as not sure it actually is a monitor problem

Is the system at stock ?

A few things to try:

I assume CPU temps are ok and the cooler is fitted ok.

Try running Prime to check the cpu and memory stability and do a quick run of Furmark.

Everything was fine on the first day ..temps where all fine and he was able to play games...the next day he cant seem to even get past login screen without his monitor cutting off with no signal message....the computer is still running when this happens.

Also the vga with dvi converter seems to be a hit and miss whether that works or not ...sometimes it does sometimes not.

I will be going down to his house tomorrow with another card and monitor and will check the bios settings too and see if i can fix the problem before he has to RMA.

And no nothing has been overclocked :)

Hopefully find the root of the problem or some suggestions before i go to his tomorrow to try them.

Ill be checking to make sure everything is totally secure no lose wires etc ...but it was prebuilt by the ocuk team so i suppose they would have already checked that.
