No surprises Crysis 2 runs best on PC

Most multi-platform games look better on the PC but it's usually a case of how much better? and how much better could it have been if the game was made just for the PC. This is the type of game where I would get the PC version anyway.

"PC is the best looking version, yeah," he answers, in a CVG story. "But if I had shown it on PC, it would have been like... okay, Crysis 2 is on console, but they're not showing the console version. So we wanted to go with console."
okay crysis 2 is on pc but they're not showing the pc version?

Shocked at quite how much better the PC looks for this game though, the console shots reminded me of Gears of War on the 360 which is several years old, is that the best they can do? Surely the PS3 can top that by now?

What are you basing that on? the original screen shots of the first Crysis still blow the actual game away. We need to see a decent upto date high-ish resolution video of all 3 versions running in turn. From what I remember, the Xbox360 version was meant to be better than the PS3 version which makes sense as the the Xbox has a better graphics chip but the PS3 has a better CPU. If the game has any relation to Crysis 1 then CPU power isn't as important and graphics power.

Aha, finally some solid evidence, my mate still thinks his 360 is faster than an i7 980x machine with a hd 5970, time to prove him wrong :P

Yeah most of the console footage they showed was at developer conferences and other places where developers were present. All PC developers know about the cryengine but i'm sure many console developers either don't know about it or have disregarded it as a PC engine. With the cryengine 3 crytek are trying to get their interest and the only way they can do that is by showing console footage.

Also, since they are releasing it on the consoles they know they will rake in more money so they can justify expenses such as hiring an award winning writer to write the story. It might actually turn out better than it would if it was a PC exclusive from all the extra investment that is a result of moving to consoles.

I'm sure the PC version will be miles ahead of the console versions. I don't think it's even possible for them to have worse visuals than the cryengine 2.

Basing what on? The PC version is clearly much better in the movie in the OP, the console versions don't look even vaguely as detailed or clear. You'd think that the PS3, being much younger than the 360 would be able to punt out better quality graphics. I have neither, partly because of the feeling I had when I did have a 360 - that it was always second fiddle to the PC.

No surprise at all, but still, given the aging hardware of the consoles, I think it's quite impressive what they seem to be managing to pull off on them.

Hah, sounds the same as my mate. "PS3 has the 4563 core cell so it must be faster blah blah".

Tell your mate the Cell only has 1 primary core and 8 spe's which are basically co-processors, have no true cache, and some of them arent even used in game processing.

Uncharted 2 on PS3 spanks anything available on the 360.

Much younger? A year is so much younger, right?

The PS3 has a few games that look better than anything the 360 has to offer in the graphics department. Research better.

Dont bother, people that blinkered wont have their minds changed by trivial things like facts :p.

Not overly excited yet, obviously i was hugely impressed by far cry and crysis on a technical level but i never liked the feel of those games in terms on movement and weapons. I can appreciate those games but never truly enjoyed them.
