No text tone on iphone?....

Got my Iphone 3g on Friday absalutly great aprat from not getting a text tone when i recieve a text......

Anyone know anything about this?

check that it isn't on silent mode. Top button on left side, push upwards.

Try settings - sounds - new text messarge - pick on of those .

Then try.

If those dont work then test your speakers with some music. If they do work, I suggest a restore.

seems to be just tri tone that does not work......if i change it to glass or something then its fine. :rolleyes:

If you are really bothered then a restore can fix the issue.

Have you updated to 2.0.1?

yes i have updated, kind of did it when i was registering phone on itunes. If i restore, does it just restore and re-synce straight away or will i have to redo anything?

A restore will put your iPhone to factory condition, therefore you will be starting from scratch

bit of a pani in the ass, but workable. Anyone else heard of this happening?

Just restart the phone.

Mine had funny problems with missing sounds and a reboot of the phone fixed them. 2.0.x firmwares seem really buggy... 1.1.4 never had any problems for me

I noticed that when mine is docked I get no text tone.

I've had this issue also, I find that a reboot of the phone usually fixes things although I once found that I got the tone on the first message that came through but not on the second so had to reboot it again

After past problems I've had since upgrading firmware on my old iPhone I'm reluctant to do it on my new 3G one till there's and upgrade with obvious differences
