You could always add a low profile PCI graphics card to one of the boards 2 PCI slots, a low profile NVidia 6200 128MB PCI card for example. To snag a cheap one your best bet would be to look on a known auction site. They're also readily available elsewhere online, but due to competitor rules I can't say where.

Adding the drivers for the monitor 'should' enable the resolutions you desire.
What monitor is it?

I'll hazard a guess in your monitor is displaying a default one, rather than the make you have.

I tried to add the monitor inf file from the Philips website but it said something like no better driver found and yes it does display as default monitor
