no wifi modem router

There are plenty of routers around that don't have WiFi and have built in modems so you don't have to use the ISP supplied kit. Something like the Draytek V2762-K would work.

I just wondered if you could recommend an adsl or vdsl modem router were you can turn the wifi off. I don't if neighbours have wifi or not but in any case that's what she want's I couldn't find a modem router easily that has it.

As mentioned previously there are loads of VDSL/ADSL routers that have no WiFi so there is nothing to turn off. If your sensitive to WiFi you wouldn't want a router in which it could switch back on with a factory reset or someone hits the WiFi button that many of them have.

Draytek V2762-K will do the job nicely but there are other cheaper options.

I’m intrigued by this, in what way are they sensitive? What effects does it have on them?

There are a handful of Mikrotik routers that do not have wireless chips but none have ADSL modems built in. There are a few draytek models without WiFi but draytek you pay a lot for a mythical “enterprise reliability”.

What’s your budget?

It's for a friend who says she's sensitive, she may just be hysterical of course lol !

I think she wants to be able to turn the wifi on briefly while she uses it for now, well until she find sorts out cables etc.

Although I have heard of someone who could tell when the wifi was turned on downstairs.

I didn't realise you could always turn the wifi off. I'm not sure what the symptom.

Thanks for your help :)

She is electro hypersensitiveness, some people are sensitive to RF radiation in the same way others have allergies to certain other things.

I’m genuinely NOT being funny when I say that if your friend really can detect 2.4GHz signals by being in their presence, GCHQ WILL want to meet her. A human RF detector would be utterly invaluable in a multitude of situations. Even if it’s just a case of she gets a headache, if it’s consistent then it’s an extremely valuable talent.

It’s effectively a super-power.

Yet put them in a room with no visible RF sources and tell them it's RF shielded and they magically feel better, despite the multitude of high power RF sources on the other side of the otherwise ordinary wall.

The only thing real about RF sensitivity is the subject's anxiety about it

As I said, if she's real, then she is exceptionally valuable.
