I am working in Warrington this work and during my exploration of the town I saw a pub which was offering all drinks ( bottles, spirits etc ) for 50 pence on payment of a £2 entrance fee

Now this sounded outrageous to me so I decided that it was best that I confirmed that this was true

unfortuntaley it was the case, no wonder the youth of this country are lead astray , hic :( ;) :o :p

It won't last long. Even modest drinkers having say 3 bottles will only be paying £3.50 in total so still making a saving on normal pub prices; meanwhile it will also attract the bingers who go in and knock back 10+ bottles.

They'll get fed up with the wrong sort of clientele abusing it and either abolish the promotion altogether, or bump up the price to a more reasonable level.

As a short term measure to try and drum up interest in their pub it may have it's benefits in terms of publicity but I can't see it working long term. There was this club in Bournemouth (Opera House) which used to do free bar all night if you paid £10 entrance fee. It soon increased to £15 and then was eventually stopped.

it's a shame really that I need to be up in the morning, if not I could have investegated in more detaik :o

Without trying to start a flame war, I don't see the point of alcohol at all.

There are hundreds of drinks that taste just as nice, but don't make you act like a plank, spew, and wake up feeling like living hell.

I know not everyone gets drunk to that point, but even if you just had a couple of drinks you'd probably end up saving money by buying non-alcohol ones.

Just my $0.02. :)

Cheaper to drink beer in my locals than draught fizzy drinks! Suspect it's the same for 99% of the country.

Not necessarily carbonated ones! What about juice? :)

Not everyone who gets drunk behaves or feels like this, happy drunks get drunk laugh sing a little crash out & go to work the next morning relieved of whatever stresses they may have felt before the night out, No biggy.

Which you can still do with non-alcoholic drinks, and save some money?
