Hello folks
I reckon I'm probably being incredibly stupid, but when putting this cooler together which fan is which?
The manual says to make sure they're correctly aligned to push/pull, but which fan does which?
Or is it simply that you install one with the Noctua sticker facing inwards and one outwards?
I'm sure I'm being a prat, but this is my first build and my overcaution is making me dim!
Thanks

If you take a glance at my push/pull setup here it should give you an idea.

The fan at the front next to the ram slots is the push fan, the second fan (pull) is mounted so that the sticker side is facing the backside of the cooler, the fans your using should have arrows on the side showing rotation direction and airflow.

Can I ask a question as well, how good is the cooler on the overclocked bundle OVERCLOCKED* Intel Core i7 920 D0 Stepping (SLBEJ) 2.66Ghz @ 4.00GHz Max / Gigabyte EX58-UD5 Intel X58 Motherboard / Corsair 6GB DDR3 PC3-12800C8 1600MHz DDR3 Bundle?

All the fans should be facing in the same direction, with the sticker pointing towards the front of the case to maximise airflow.

Im assuming this is the bundle supplied with the noctua nh u12p, if so its a very good cooler.

Thanks folks - I'd missed the arrows somehow!
Right, I'm connecting the fan cables to the mobo.
First of all the fan header on the mobo has 4 pins, while the plug on the fan cable has 3 pins... I guess that doesnt matter right?
Now, I've attached both fans, so I have to use the splitter adapter that came with the Noctua - I plug both fans into this adapter and then adapter combines both into a single plug for the mobo fan header.
But looking at the adapter - where it splits into two - one socket has 3 wires (makes sense) the other one has only 2 (and accordingly has only 2 pins). Is there anything I should bear in mind here? Which fan plugs into the 3 pin part of the adpater, and which into the 2 pin part.
Hope this is clear!?
Thanks

The extra cable is for the fan speed signal; only one fan can signal their speed as the motherboard is unable to process two on the same header. I would put it in on the push fan but I don't think it really matters.

In terms of temperatures, I've got the 920 D0 overclocked to 3.8GHz with 12GB of Corsair xms3 and this cooler. Coretemp shows a max of 70c under load , around 40c or so when less busy. Easytune6 reports CPU maximum at 46c and system around 53c.

I've got the fans set to 1100rpm by means of the choosing one of the two cables that attaches to the system baord. (the otehr cable is 900rpm , sop presumably a resistor in the cable). Dod that as it was goung to be overclocked.
Very impressed with quiteness as well.

Kind of resurrecting this thread...
The fan can only operate at one speed? Mine is operating at 1400rpm all the time, i would like it to run slower but set it to speed up when CPU temperature increases, any way of doing that?

Should be look like this for example! Both fans had the same arrow pointed toward out to the back rear of the case fan! OC 4Ghz at just 72C max with linpack. Great cooler these are!
