Just had to re-download NOD32 for my system and thought I may as well get the latest from the site to save it doing the program updates & noticed it installed version 4. It still says v3 on the site but looks like this is just about / has been launched now?

I can see there is a beta on the site for it but seems a bit odd they haven't updated the site.

Version 3 hasn't been out all that long?

hmm i purchased nod32 about 3 months back i take it we can upgrade for free?

yes, you license it for a period of time, not a specific version.

funnily enough, I had to do a reinstall this morning and got v4. I think it's still release candidate though (RC was launched end of feb) as I cannot update to the latest signatures with it.

cool. i can't use the site now at work, but can i just download the one on the web site and add my passwords and code when installing?

also will my v3 update in time anyhow ?

v2.7 didn't auto update to 3 on mine before, I had to go to the site, however I don't know if it would do it after a certain period of release.

You'll be able to just download the latest version from their site with your user/pass and install. It will then pick up those details from your existing installation & upgrade from it.

I noticed this too. For the first time since I got ESET Smart Security, it caused a blue screen this morning (I think it was this, as I noted that the virus definition update failed, and it was the only program not functioning properly on a restart.

So I went to see if the new program would fix it - to my surprise, it installed v4 rather than v3 as I was expecting. I like the changes they've made though...

Ah looks like quite a few are having problems then. Mine said 'at risk' and was red in the status tab / system tray and wouldn't update properly either.

Out of curiosity, what changes have you noticed, compared to v3?

Yeah, after the restart it was red and wouldn't work properly. The firewall died too; the program kept saying that it couldn't 'read' firewall module or something.

I think - I may well have missed it in v3 though - that you can now easily disable a module from the taskbar, each individually too. They broken down many of the options to give a little more control. Haven't delved too far into it though - far too busy!

Ooo, cool. Gonna have to upgrade and see what it's like :)

[Edit]
Looks like they have released it properly - it's all over their front page.

Hmm, can't find the v4 download link (other than on the beta page)
