NOD32 v4

It's so annoying! I can get to the GUI from egui.exe in the program directory though. Did you ever manage to solve the problem Montegue? Should submit a ticket to ESET I suppose...

raise a ticket if you have tried uninstall, reboot, reinstall of v4

and quit that cult you have joined :p

Just installed V4.0.314.0 over existing V3 install. All went A Ok!
Has updated to 3901 virus database as well.
Running on XP Pro serv pack 3.

No fraid not, I did submit a ticket a while ago and all I was told to do was make sure it was in start up programs, but obviously it was startin up on boot up. I guess it's a slight bug with the gui as the program itself runs without issue.

I'm sitting here on the latest v3 version, though I've got the v4 downloaded and ready to install, but reading through all these problem threads, I'm a little hesitant.

Is it going to be better to wait a couple of days before updating to v4? I mean, either way I'm still going to be running an up to date AV and I can survive without those new features, but if I keep thinking like that I'd be on v3 forever.

iviv, i've just updated our work to V4 (after testing all in a VM first)

working perfectly.

the update server and all clients retained their settings, a painless upgrade :)

Nothing wrong with V4, it was a definition update for V3 that cause the initial problems (blue screen and virus scanner not starting upon reboot).

Now that they've weather the storm of people updating everything should be golden (but why they didn't put their update service onto some kind of CDN I really cannot fathom).

Okie, that's awesome. And regarding keeping settings the game, I guess that means I should install over the old version? Or when I uninstall, is there an option to keep the configuration files?

Thanks ^^

Just install the new version, no need to uninstall (although even if you do, I believe it keeps the old cfg somewhere but don't quote me on that :)).

if you install the new one, it removes the old one for you, so just leave it do it's thing

both Eset and O&O impress me with their seamless upgrades

Hey,

I just uninstalled v4, did a quick registry clean (manually by deleting random keys left behind) and then reinstalled it again. Double clicking on the systray icon now works :)

Cheers,

Suman
