Noise camera trial starts in Bradford today.

Good, the number of cars that drive here that sound like a machine gun being fired on lift off is getting stupid.

Look forward to when they roll them out everywhere.

Hopefully this leads to the end of those obnoxious pops and bangs maps the little rascals seem to love these days

Indeed.

I don't mind a loud exciting car, but these ***** in their cheap pops and bang maps are just plain annoying.

This is what we are up against.

Look at the hashtag ffs #ak47

“Gunshots”

What about the little old lady driving her Polo eveywhere in the wrong gear? Or large vans with massive diesel engines?

They're trying to tackle to symptom and not the cause imo.

Make after-market mods that cause pops and bangs illegal whilst working with the car makers to limit the noise generated in the first place. GPS-aware functionality (e.g disabling track mode unless the car is located at a track) is already a thing. If you truly want to kerb the noise, restrict engine modes on the public roads or incentivise car enthusiasts to race around at a track away from Morrisons car parks.

Alright lad come on now, post your dodgy mapped CLA45 so we can laugh at you.

What happens if you own say a factory stock car and it sets of these said noise limits, still getting fined or whatever consequence is, seems somewhat unfair if said cameras start issuing fines to people who are driving stock legal cars. Examples could be an old classic car, TVR, modern V8 or supercar or a Jaguar F-Type V6/V8.

It does specify "revving unnecessarily" or with an illegal modified exhaust, so you'd hope they have some kind of noise level/profile database against car type which does a lookup against the VRM to check if it's stock or not. However that seems altogether too sensible for government policy :(

On the flip side, I'm all for this. Some nights we can hear the ******** racing up and down the dual-carriageway a couple of miles away, in fact I'd suggest going further than just issuing a fine, and instead attach the camera to a HIMARS :p

I've never heard a TVR, modern V8 or F-Type V6/V8 and thought "oh man what a racket"

Bellends in CLA45s though - literally every other day.

Maybe the system can specifically target grotty 2 litre turbos.

Well it is the 4 pot bangers with pops and bangs which is generally the issue, Not a V12 Aston Martin sounding glorious as it rolls down the road, put if said cameras target said cars would be very unfair, it is OK on some of the more modern ones as the owner can just press exhaust button in said areas though not all cars have exhaust modes, my 600 LT does not but I'd be amazed if that ever set of a noise camera it sounds like a Dyson. :D

The 458 however can emit very fruity sounds and burbles totally at random, yet its stock.

JayEmm just put the Speciale a little bit further out of reach as well :D:(
