Noisy 1900XTX

Is it normal for an 1900XTX to sound like a small hoover?

On powerup, yup. Not too bad idle in windows, gaming usually speeds up but not to 100%.

They are quite noisy cards, yes. But it's nothing that you don't get used to after a while

Noise is an issue with these cards.

And remember noise is subjective.

A loud card is quiet for some and vice versa.

Mine sounds like a hoover from the moment it starts up and does not power down no matter what. Is there a setting to make it slower when idle or not under load?

I assume you've installed the latest Catalyst ATi drivers?

Drivers installed or not - it should power down the fan within 5 seconds of start up :/

Yes I have the latest drivers.
3D 06 mark score is 5313 which sounds low to me.
Something may not be right here need to check it out.
