Hi all,

I took delivery of a Hisense 49" M3000 tv on Saturday, lovely TV for the money, can't complain about the image on it.

However, there's some dinks and scratches on the screen, barely visible apart from 1 but the big issue is that it makes a tap tap tap noise, imagine and angry cricket kind of sound.

After some tinkering, it's to do with the backlight. Turn if down to 0 and it goes, at 10 you get a buzzing, by 20 you've got a low click by 100 you've got very angry crickets having sex. :D

Ao have advised I contact Hisense about the issue, but it's a TV, i'm not an electrical engineer so what can I actually do other than have a dark TV. They are asking for photos of the damage to the screen to see what I we can do about that. But, anyone any experience with the backlight issue?

Is it an easy fix? can it be fixed or is it a definite sign of an issue?

The marks on the screen would be enough for me to return it.

Sounds like there's some issue with the capacitors when under load, although im no expert. Either way, just send it back and get a new screen.

I've emailed them again asking for it to be replaced, not happy with jumping through hoops and dealing with Hisense themselves, I didn't buy from them.

I guessed either capacitors or maybe a fan because it's a rhythmic ticking but it is just a guess with me.

Finally getting a replacement on Sunday.

Taken a good 6 or 7 emails. All from different people and in one it mentioned a conversation I'd had with another member of staff, which never happened. They refused to replace it without a Hisense technician coming out to check it and even if they could have fixed it I pointed out I wouldn't want a TV that had needed fixing in the first week of ownership nor one with cosmetic damage. Still they refused to replace even after I threatened to just return it and go elsewhere.

Hisense, awesome. Didn't send a tech out, just sent me a text with a return authorisation number for AO.

I spent 10 years in logistics and 7 in customer services, never have I experienced such terrible service from a company. It's their own drivers as well.

Yep the problem was with AO. Customer service was shocking apart from when we phoned up due to this. Email was a waste of time.

And yes, they delivered a new TV Monday morning, 10am, brought it in, plugged it in and checked it was fine. Wife signed for it. Annoyingly they took the packaging away, which you need if you ever need to return the TV at a later date.

New TV has no ticking sound and no screen faults. :D

For the money, discounted by £20 to £349, then another 10% refunded due to the constant issues, it was a bargain and excellent value for money.

I still need to tweak the settings to get the best out of it, but overall, can't complain. It's not going to be comparable to TV's in the high hundreds or thousands, but for a cheapy make do tv, can't ask for anything else.

glad you got it sorted i once ordered a fridge freezer from AO half and hour later i got a call guy wanted to know if i lived in a flat how many steps too my front door.

because it was more than one standard flight of stairs said that there contractors may refuse to deliver it and just leave it outside the flats fair enough if it was a tower block but it's low rise 2 floors, had to cancel the order and go elsewhere.
