You may try these hidden black setting, its easy and reversible.

I dont have a problem with the default picture, but I understand there were different batches of Oculus and people's perception is also different (eg some see changed setting above producing reddish tint, others see only deeper blacks).

EDIT: howto
1- Disable OVRService from Task manager (Services tab)
2- Open Regedit.exe and go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > Software
3- Right click on the Software folder > New > Key and name the new folder "Oculus"
4- Right click on the Oculus folder > New > DWORD 32bit Value and name it UseSpud
5- Set the value to 0
6- Start OVRService again and put on your headset
7- (Probably) be amazed at how everything looks clean and black

I disabled SPUD/Mura, and the grey speckles have completely vanished, black is now proper black, and the colour vibrance is greater, which is a massive improvement. God rays are a bit more intense on dark scenes though, which is slightly annoying, though some games deal with this better than others.

The main thing with the speckles on my Rift is one eye had them more than the other which caused some discomfort, and so were really annoying.
