I've just bought myself a sata2 Seagate 500gb hard drive. Im worried ive been sold a duff because its already started making a clicking sound, similar to when a HDD in on its way out. The only other thing thats making me think something up is when i load up all the drivers and some apps etc it sometimes fails to boot.

If anyone has one of these seagate HDD? are they normally this noisy?

I have 3 Seagate 500GB 7200.9's (1 in an external caddy which is going to my bro as a bday pressy), I do notice they make a clicking noise when seeking but I am sure all HDD's do - also I run mine in RAID 1 so they both seek at the same time which probably adds to the noise.

I also have a Seagate 300GB 7200.8 which isn't as noisy (very quiet actually) as my 500GB's in RAID 1.

<edit> The loudest Seagate I had was a 80GB Sata drive which I think was a 7200.7 model and it was VERY loud.
