I bougt a 150 Gb WD Raptor drive when they were first available last year and it has always been amazingly quiet. I would say it is almost as quiet as a standard SATA drive!
When I installed Vista I decided to buy another drive the same in order to kep my original with XP on until I was happy with Vista (expensive but a good safe bet!)
Anyway the problem is that the new 150Gb Raptor with Vista on is incredibly noisy and grinds like hell on start up. Is it possible to have just got an extra well build good HD in the first place or could vista possibly have anything to do with it?
I suppose installing Vista on the original would answer this but as I have an OEM vista license and want to keep the old drive in tact I won't be trying it yet!
