I hope somebody can help me, I have just built a new system with the intel Conroe processor bought a nice Zalman CNPS9500-AT Aero Flower (Socket 775) which is cooling just fine but it is very noisy. It's like a loud blowing air sound, so I don't think its vibration. Any ideas, I have it pointing at the back case fan, perhaps this is the problem. It is definately the fan as I have stopped it and then nothing else can be heard.

thanks

Matt

have you got the fan connected to the cpu fan header on the motherboard if so i suspect the fan is going at full speed and you will have to get a fan controler to limit the speed

Does the Asrock cpu fan header have 4 pins or just 3? I've got the same cooler on a gigabyte DS4 and it's VERY quiet.

does the Zalman Fanmate not come with the CNPS9500? if so stick it on and turn it to low when not doing much and hear the slience.

I have the VF-900 and it can let noise of it when at full speed but once turned down its slient.

just had a look at the Zalman site and its seems the Fanmate doesnt ship with the CNPS9500-AT Aero Flower (Socket 775).

They run about the £5 mark but am not sure of OCuk do them on there own.

The fanmate doesn't come with that cooler.
If you read the manual.....

The operation of the PWM fan varies depending on the M/B setting. Please activate the PWM Control
mode from BIOS after installing. Refer to the motherboard manual for detailed information regarding the
PWM Control mode.

Noisy Zalman CPU Cooler

took your advice split thanks,

I have set the fan speed to the low setting but it won't drop to the Fans silence mode it still stays at well above 2200 RPM. I can't seem to set the speed manually which is a shame, it's done on the temperature of the CPU which is running at about 36 - 40 idle after about 30 minutes of being switched on. I bought the fan mate 2 before I saw the last post. Wondered if there is some sort of adapter cable to work with this fan.

thanks,

Well I had some help over on quiet PC but just wanted to make sure what one of the guys on the forum said won't do any harm to the board, he said to cut the 3 pin connector on the fan mate so the cooler would be able to fit on it. Then leave the left pin on the board unplugged as this is what controls fan speed makes sence I guess, but will it work ? and if I try will it do any damage.

thanks,

Matt
