Nokia 6300: Sim Registration Failed

Hi

I just bought a used Nokia 6300 locked to Orange. I tried inserted my Orange sim which works fine in other phones and when I try it in the 6300 I get "Sim Registration Failed". Is it possible the phone is dodgy and the IMEI has been blocked? Is there a way to check whether its been blocked?

I'm a miserly Yorkshireman and slightly reluctant to pay 2 quid to check out a phone I paid 36 quid for... But will think about it

EXTREMELY high chance it's nicked / reported lost.

Phone up orange CS. 450 payg / 150 paym. They will do you an IMEI check for free I think. Looking on the internal orange docs I found the process to do it but I'm not a customer service rep so can't do it myself sorry. The process might be for authenticating equipment we sent out though, not 100% on second look but it's worth trying.

Cheers fella. Just gave them a call and it is indeed blacklisted. Wow that's the first time I've got a dodgy product on the auction site which shall not be named. I might just be lucky though
