why the heck is this phone so expensive? it had the worst spec i've ever seen! it doesent even have a megapixel cam and it costs more then everyother phone  is the screen made of platinum or something?

Because its Nokia exclusive phone.

Also it has a Sapphire Crystal screen which after nearly a year of ownership I still haven't scratched it.

It has a Stainless Steel casing.

Oh and it looks the dogs.

Rumor has it its sucessor will be announced in a few months time. 2MP camera & 3G now......

Can't wait.

I'm sick of my 8800 had it for nearly a year - I normally change phones every 3 months.

Because for some bizarre reason people will pay a lot of money for a 6230i without a memory card slot and a little bit more internal ram in a slidy case if they are told it's 'exclusive'?

A classic example of bling economics....

I'd be willing to eat my hat if you have it before this time next year, and willing to eat yours too if you have it before xmas.

I think your all missing the point completely. Its about having a phone that isn't made of cheap plastic. Its about having a handset that looks good and feels good. There is something reassuring about having an 8800 in your hand. It just feels "right". Its one of those phones that people are gonna covert long after its release. Last time I checked the K750i, W800i, etc, were all released roughly the same sort of time, and people view them as old hat and are being sold off dirt cheap. The 8800 is a phone people still want and has held its value well.

Thats the idea behind the phone. It gets attention, good/bad where ever it is. Not many phones can do that. The fact almost year after its release people still want one, everybody discusses it, is the most telling thing. No one cares about any other phone that old.

Thats why you pay more for an 8800, simple as that. Non owners just don't get it. I had one, and now have another toy to play with (E900). When the replacement arrives, I'll be first in line to get one.

Isn't that what Bentley Continental GT owners tell people in between prostate exams?

personally, i think i could design a better looking phone, with more features, out of a large brick. I cant understand why anyone would want an oversised lump of turd like the 8800, and you cant even say "its whats on the inside that counts".
