Nokia 8800 OMGZWTF???!!11

There are about 70 Million total handsets in the UK alone, so lets assume 10% of those 1 million 8800's are in the Uk, thats just 100,000. Your not gonna see that many people with them really.

The fact that other Nokia handsets are badly built is irrelevant (although true). The 8800 is still built to a budget and it shows, the alledged quality of the handset is not the reason for the cost of it.

It doesn't feel special (unless you compare it with other nokias, which aren't renowned for being well built to start with) and I really don't understand the attraction. Other people do, that's great for them.

However when people start being honest about the phone, people will stop asking the same questions.

oi, nowt wrong with nokia build quality, well apart from the 6111 every nokia i have owned has been solid, my 6230 survived a lot of beating including being run over and dropped in a lake. as for the 8800 i agree people like to talk **** about it to justify spending so much, i dont give a toss bout the features etc, i used to use my phones for music etc an pretty much had a new one every 2 weeks but then i stuck with the 6230 for a year, and then the 8800. an those people comparing the 8800 to a rolex need some help, its a good phone but not as good as a rolex! oh an as i type this my phone is sittin on charge, with magnolia paint all over it as ive been decoratin

HAHA, I LOVE THIS THREAD. I think quite possibly the only place for an 8800 is in the rectum of a certain premier league footballer. Anyone got their number?

That Case is awesome though, did my £90 ipod nano cost more than about £10 to build?, doubtful, but it looks great, its not about the materials is about the creativity, for me its the best looking phone on the market and worth what i paid, for you it may not be.

That's a different point, and perfectly fine -if you like the looks, that's great. :)

Just don't anybody try to compare their 8800 to a Rolex and my phone to a Casio though. :p

Whilst they are very nice, the Rolex watches are very overpriced for the sum of their parts, they sell them for high prices because of the long standing reputation and heritage and because they pioneered some of the technical inovations at the time in watchmaking, this has enabled them to sell much the same designs for decades.

Both the 8800 and a Rolex hold their money well for their owners compared to competing products, the difference is that the 8800 is still just a phone :D so unfortunately technology will catch up with it and it will be worth absolutely nothing within 5 years, if you care enough to spend a lot on watches then why not a nicely designed phone to partner it.
