Announced properly today and it does look good. Slim as a slider goes, decent specs as well. I like the look and think Symbian^3 does deserve a chance. Saw a great comment earlier - I don't like Windows 3.1...wait, there's a newer one...? Needs to be released soon and needs to be slick so who know. I have a feeling this is a fore-runner for the N9.

Thoughts?

I love Nokia and this does look like a slick phone. But after the N97 and Symbian I just can't bring myself to get excited about another disappointing Nokia handset (coming from a series of N Series and Symbian phones). I'll stick with Android from now on, which is a shame because deep down I'm Nokia fan boi.

the n8 is better, unless you like keyboards

It looks so cool! The question now is this or the N8, QWERTY keyboard vs better camera. hmm....

Actually nvm, 4" is too big still set on the n8

You're still looking at getting the N8 despite being shown why you shouldn't?

I guess Nokia can still flog the dead horse to a few people (who don't listen) then :p

lol symbian is all I know :D Android and iOS have better looking UIs/icons/menus etc but thats their only advantage. For my needs, symbian does everything else better :p As Nokia would say: "It's Not About Technology, It's What You Do With It!" :D

dam I sound so much like a fanboy *slaps self*

How can you show someone why they shouldn't get a phone that hasn't even been released yet? It hasn't even been reviewed by a reputable source yet!

Enough information has been released about it for people to draw some decent conclusions though.

Exactly, pretty much every piece of information you would need about it has been tried and revealed online in various places and tested by various people.

I admit its far from a terrible phone, but its not worth getting for a great many reasons.

Could you tell me what features Symbian has that it does better than Android (or that Android doesn't have) out of interest, I'd like to know?

Ok...but you asked for it! (my personal reasons)

1. better battery life
2. free ovi maps + navigation
3. better cameras
4. requires less resources (1ghz cpus)
5. multi-tasking implementation (cheap shot :p)
6. Far more functionalty without the need to install 'apps' / you dont need to install apps to get the most out of your phone

Ok your turn, what does android have the symbian doesn't or what android does better

why must it be better ? it does the same and similar things. its the hardware thats good , the camera and xenon , the hdmi , it looks nice etc

ive had my android phone for a good few months now and i cant think of any apps i use that dont have equivalents on symbian

theres too much emphasis on OS and apps thesedays when in reality most people couldnt give a damn as long as all the popular stuff is there. like he says what does android do that new symbian doesnt ? what android phones can match the cameras ? people can pull out 1.2ghz processors and piles of ram but who cares when there is no use for them?

I never said Android was better, I asked what Symbian has that it doesn't. Which is well, nothing.

If you want the N8/N9 then by all means, get it, but in my personal opinion you are making a mistake.

I would list why and enter into a debate but we will just go round in circles like most subjects in this forum, as everyone is different and like different phones :)

I'm only making my decision based on what I do know. If you have any specific reason for me not to get it, pls tell, I dont wanna end up wasting my money

once again no reasoning at all from robbo... just more casual slagging off of every single phone that he doesnt own. why ask what symbian has that android doesnt if you cant offer what android has that symbian doesnt?

and id love a reason for any android phone to need a faster than 1ghz cpu but yet again no one gives one
