Nokia E72

Just got mine, few points:

Am I odd for disabling the optical navi pad? I've been put off Touchscreen tech by my last phone.

I seem to have lost the chat icon from the main screen, how do I get it back? (or what is the code to reset to factory defaults?)

I've got a clock in the top left of the screen, can I remove the one thats at the bottom of the screen?

I'm so loving the proper kb, texting used to be a chore with touchscreen!

I'm not seeing it on any of the five network providers, only SIM free. Any idea why it's been pulled? Virgin Mobile are offering it.

Got mine through Quidco who are offering 30% cashback on this phone at the mo. It's certainly a nice phone. iPhone killer? No. But I'm not in year 7, so I don't need an iPhone ;)

Just thought I would post my findings after owning the E72 for the last 2 months.

Pros:

The "feel" of the device is a very solid and well put together phone. If anyone has owned a 6500 Classic or any of the 8800 series, then you are along the same lines in terms of build quality.

The keyboard is an absolute joy to use. I had reservations about the size of the keys but to my delight, I found myself comfortably typing long e-mails almost instantly. The optical navigation key took about an hour to get used to but it makes web browsing very smooth and painless. Not sure how I lived without it!

Battery life is where this phone excels. On 3G mode, I can get 3-4 days out of it under heavy usage including 80 texts + 1 hour of calls, email checking every 10mins, bluetooth on and GPS used every now and again.

Switching to 2G mode I have seen just over a week with similar usage. I have recently ordered a 1900mah battery to replace the standard one which should be here in the next 5-6 days.

The built in web browser and applications provided are fairly typical of the range and have no complaints. The most amazing aspect of the web browser is that I can now load 2MB+ web pages with zero crashes.

Camera wise, I was a bit surprised by the clarity of the pictures. There is minimal noise and the pictures are sharp with good colour balance.

Cons:

My biggest gripe is with the Nokia Messaging feature. If you use IMAP to access your emails, then you can not shuffle between folders nor can you organize your emails in folders. I found this unacceptable for a product aimed at the business user.

In all honesty, that is the only thing I could find wrong with the phone. Its a brilliant piece of kit :)

Guys, i'm using ovi maps. I want it in mph so set it to imperial, but then that changes the temperature to F, rather than C!

How can I use mph AND degrees celcius?

I'd get it in a heartbeat if Nokia decided to use a higher resolution display.

They must've purchased an absolute boat load of 320x240 displays as that's all they've been using for the last couple of years.

They keep the manufacturing going for assembling new handsets and for service needs - so I don't think that's the reason

They've kept the same screen for E63, E71 and E72

I did use the E71 for quite a while , got a bit sluggish and now looking to change to 9700 when my upgrade is due.
