Nokia 'Insert Sim' error?

I am trying to bring an old 6630 back to life...

The phone is in offline mode, and brings up an 'insert sim' request when I attempt to switch to General - or any reception active - mode. The sim is known good, and the problem occurs with multiple sims.

The phone once took a brief shower, after which this error occurred. With the exception of recognising the sim, every other phone function is fine.

Any ideas as to a quick fix?

Equally, does anybody remember the factory pin code for this model?

I think the default code for all Nokia phones is 12345.

Is the phone unlocked to all networks?

Pretty sure my 6630 said insert sim if I tried a different chip before I had it unlocked.

Phone is unlocked, yes. A network specific sim doesn't work either...
