All over the world...
Got my new sim free Nokia n95 yesterday from someone on ebay, got it for £330 which isnt too bad i suppose. The good thing about it is that it isnt the plum coloured one but the silver coloured one ie the back cover is silver/dark grey rather than plum coloured.

Anyways i dont know if its an inherent problem but it seems like when im making a call the earpiece of the phone rattles, no matter how low u put the volume down and also while talking on the phone, it rattles a lot ie makes a funny sound like the volume is much too high. But changing the volume doesnt help matters much either.

So was wondering if this was an inherent problem ie have other people had the same problem or is it just my phone??. The silly thing is that i spoke to my local nokia repair centre and they say that they can fix it but i need proof of purchase which will be kinda hard as the guy i bought it from doesnt have a receipt. If i cant find the receipt then it will be £40 to get it fixed....is this true????...if it is then i might as well return the phone to the guy and get my money back or get him to replace it with a new one. But then he might have a faulty batch of n95's that hes selling.

Any help would be appreciated :).

it is your phone, that is why i buy phones from shops! ebay is a pain no come back.

True although the guy did reply to my message i sent him, said that i should take it to a nokia service center...problem is the shops are asking for way too much money for a sim free version and ebay was the cheapest i could find it for.

Oh well sent him another message, tell him to sort this out ie send me a new one or give me a refund. Will be interesting to see if he responds...so far he hasnt...dunno what my options are regarding him on ebay. Could open up a dispute and say the phone was faulty when received and the seller is not willing to help out in any way...

I've never needed proof of purchase when I've taken a phone to the service centre. They check if the warranty is still valid by looking up the IMEI number.

My phone does the same... its a common fault ith the N95. Yoiu will also hear a high pitched hiss too. You also notice it more when your in a noisy place such as a bar and you're shouting... its almost a little like feedback. :(

Pain in the butt but im hoping the next firmware version wil fix this issue.

My phone hisses and seems to be a common problem, however not all N95's do, my friends doesnt hiss whatsoever.

Cheers guys for the info...its strange because my cousin has the same phone and hers doesnt do what mine does ie the earpiece rattles when someone is talking or when ringing etc.

Anyways havent had a chance to take it into a service centre although i did speak with them and they said thats its a common problem with N95's and they can fix it. I also get the high pitched whine as well but thats not such a major problem for me..only time i notice it is when the phone is close to my ear. From what i have heard and read on the internet, it seems like its circuit board problem....will have to see if the service centre have any fixes for it....i dont think its a firmware fix tbh.

mine works fine- no rattling. there is sometimes a hiss on video footage but not on calls. i'm still amazed this phone actually works as well as nokia say it will. i'm just waiting for something terrible to happen, untill it does i'm a happy boy...

I find the call quality on the N95's crap compared to my old N80. Try shouting into the phone and its almost like feedback in the earpiece... on my N80 you could never hear yourself talk, but on the N95 you can... its weird!
